Happy/sad things

Happy: I got a wireless router! For free. One of the members of that magazine group that I'm working with gave it to me. Now I can move my laptop anywhere without dragging my modem along with it. :)

Sad: My wireless router is incompatible with my Nintendo DS system. Nintendo says so. :(

Happy: I bought a new alarm clock at the Radio Shack in the Manhattan Mall today. Pretty spiffy, and a good price. I've been using a travel alarm clock, which I have to remember to reset every night, and its snooze function doesn't work. I LOVE snooze. Now I finally have it back.

Happy: I bought the Batman Begins DVD. I was debating between that and Princess Tutu volume 2 (a girly anime), but I finally decided that I needed Christian Bale more than Fakia.

Neutral: Um, I'm going to get a temporary roomate at the end of this month, for about 2 weeks. Oddly enough, I expected to see the person who owns my apartment about 2 weekends a month, but she hasn't stayed over a single time. It's been almost 2 months since I've seen her last. Apparently she's got a friend who is moving back to NY and needs a place to stay, so she's gonna be here for 2 weeks. I've really gotten used to having this place to myself, but oh well. I keep everything fairly clean, but I really enjoyed having the whole fridge to myself. And the bathroom. At my last place in Berkeley, the landlady was nice but sometimes she drove me crazy. We were 3-4 decades apart and while a lot of the time we had good conversations, sometimes I got really tired of it.

Sad: The work for the magazine is sort of getting to drain me. However, Grace is busy studying for her next exam, so she's not really free to hang out anyway, and I don't have anything better to do.

Happy: I accepted the job, I start in two weeks, everyone at my current job is very supportive (they asked me if I would be interested at all in staying...and I said no, which is good, because as much as they wanted to, they didn't have the budget to make a counteroffer), I'll be making a sustainable living again! Hooray! I can afford to move out in 6 months! I'll be working a block away from Grace, so she and I can have lunch together at the local McDonald's!

Ironically, the day I accepted my current intern position (back in December), I got a call about an interview for an EA position at an academic publishing company that I had applied for. I decided not to do the interview. In retrospect, you know, I probably should've done it, but at the time I felt secure in what I had already accepted and I thought, hey, I don't really want to do academic publishing anyway. And now I just accepted an EA job at an academic publishing company. I dug up the first company name and compared the two, and I think my new company is bigger. So that makes me happy in this ridiculously shallow and petty way.

Yawn. Tired. I defeated all Mario Kart Mission levels with at least one star (well, Janice might've done some...)! :)

Yeah, Christian Bale is one thing, but Katie Holmes over Ahiru? Dude, I would totally take the duck.

And no, I don't know what to do. I've been wracking my brain, and you know how painful that is for me. Dude.

You're going to have lunch at McDonald's every day? :(

And on the snooze button.. you do know *how* it works, right? And where it's located in respect to the off button? Just curious :P
